Ugh, i have uploaded a disgustingly few deviations recently.

Here, have the first product of my glass casting elective to start off what will be a small flood from my easter week off.

I crafted the initial figure from sculpey (made the model in less than a day, cause i'm that awesome). Then we had to make plaster-silica moulds, which actually got me sick (three hours in a room with that much ambient dust will do that to me, cause it was hot and i was a sped fag and didn't wear my mask as much as i should have cause it was hideously humid and gross).

Then we had to roughly weigh up the amountof glass we would need using simple water displacement. I didn;t have quite enough to fill the base section i made as my glass reservoir, and as a result you can see the excess bits i will have to spend forever grinding off on the diamond pad T_T

But on the other hand, when i cracked this out of it's mould yesterday, i was so stoked at the result i couldn't stop grinning. Casting is a difficult process because it requires very specific kiln temperatures and time spans to effectively melt the glass, fill the mould, then aneal, cure and cool the glass without it cracking. And then there's air bubbles. ugh.
And with this it seems to me the glass didn't melt enough, it didn't flow completely into the detail edges in some parts (you can see the smooth area on the right paw where there should be well defined toes, also the jawline fur on that side). But it just looks so stunning to me i don;t care. Despite my efforts to smooth the model's surface, it's frosty because it holds the finger-print impressions.

But again, i love this piece. I haven't even gotten to it with a toothbrush to get off all the plaster in the crevices yet X3

Project theme is inner light, this has some bullshit to do with being my primary fursona and blah blah blah blah.
I made it cause i thought it would look fucking awesome and it does, fuck you post-modernism with your desperate need for concepts to fap over, mine needs no deeper meaning other than looking good.

Next model will be a wax casting. Will be crazier. Theme is form and gesture. Going to ressurect the birdman. It should kick some serious wanker ass.

Also, why am i good at taking photos of glass?
