As a parting gift to the escaping lachlin who has killed all his female dragons, Voldemort splits lachlin's human and Dragon halves.
This is the manner that he is in when he is returned to Pashers ( the students take his unconsciouse human half while his uncle and Lorrelli carry the dragon half.
This is veeery bad, cause in the past other Dracomanus have, for whatever reason, split themselves like this.
And they never survive.
