*EDIT- IMPORTANT!*
Please do not use this refference anymore! It is incorrect. A much better source is right here [link]

Not everything in this tutorial is incorrect, but there are also things which are wrong because I am a somewhat self taught archer, and to be honest I don't get enough practice to know how to do it right.
The above link will take you to a very nice comprehensive article with pictures and examples and a full explanation of proper archery techniques!

*End Edit*

I did this, i cant remember why, possibly cause i keep seeing people drawing anthro's or humans holding a cocked bow without knowing how to really draw it. So seeing as i know quite a bit about the holding and technique etc, i thought i'de use my knowledge to put down for people a simple collection of reference poses to teach them the mechanics of traditional shooting, because the beeter you understand it, the better you can draw it. Insight is a good thing. And how do i know all the stuff there? Because i made my own small hunting bow, AND arrows, and it had a range of about 30 metres. Twas a good little thing ( thought it would have been better had i had a better string material than just plaited thin knitting wool :XD: ) unfortunately, the wood was to brittle after it dried out of being quite wick, and it snapped one day as i drew back :'( i was very sad. But at least the time i had with it was enough to teach me one or two things about natural bow shooting :D

You may appropriate the angles used here, but not the sketches themselves, as that is art theft, and even if they are crappy sketches, they are my crappy sketches. Use your own style dangit :XD:
So yea, tutorial and sketchies copyright me so you no steally bad die. Though i hope this helps someone :D

I’ll be honest with you, I really wanted to thank you on this references. Really I was using this type of style with a few that I learned from Charlie’s Running Archery( See his YouTube Channel). I was using the way you grip the bow with the pointer finger closed half way. (It was called the Falcon’s Talons) Also putting the arrow on the other side of the bow will help with the reload speed and it exist in eastern style of archery. Although there are a few tips that you should know.

  1. I draw the bow with a slavic Draw. read into it on YouTube. It helps me keep the arrow in place with the pointer finger.

  2. in instinctive archery I always tilt the bow because it feels natural.

  3. I know in instinctive archery there is no aiming the bow because you have to use your subconscious, but I also read that if you use your first knuckle on your bow hand over your target for guidance. I’m not sure if it defeats the purpose, but it helps me a lot when I take precise shots.

There’s nothing bad with your reference sheet, and what you did here inspired me to learn new things every day. If you need more tutorials check out Charlie Greenburg’s Running Archery.
